The Crystal Gallery has it's beginnings in the fall of 1997, when I made my first trip to Prague in the Czech Republic. This first trip convinced me this was going to be my adopted city. I made frequent trips back and would always bring with me unique selections upon my return, from which family and friends would fall in live with. Contacts were made with eight factories in the Czech Republic, all being a leader in what they produced from traditional to contemporary designs. After building up some inventory, shows were held at local Des Moines hotels showcasing these unique pieces. The response was very favorable, so after some debate a decision was made to open a retail outlet showcasing exclusive products from the Czech Republic. Thus in September 2002, The Crystal Gallery was born!
Glass blowing in the Czech Republic dates back 600 years, and still today, each piece is handcrafted! The location of this small country along with it's abundance of natural resources necessary for producing such a quality product, puts it in the forefront of such production in the world.
Every piece at The Crystal Gallery has been personally selected by me. I make frequent trips to the Czech Republic in search of those unique, one of a kind pieces, hand selecting each one directly. I am the only buyer, using no wholesalers or any other purchasing agent.
